Belen Barnaus Mendez

Choral Conductor

Soon after starting her singing studies at the age of eleven, Belén's singing career was involved with choral singing.

At the age of twelve she entered the priceless youth choir "Aura" conducted by the prestigious director Mireia Barrera and based in the Music School of the Music Palace of Barcelona.

That first approach to choral music became an enourmous source of inspiration and had its continuity with some collaborations with the professional choir "Madrigal" with which she had the pleasure to sing with conductors such as Mstislav Leopóldovich Rostropóvich, Juanjo Mena or Josep Pons.

Belén's choral career carried on (alongside her solo career) with her participation on the All Saints Fullham Choir and her membership in the Guildhall Consort conducted by Eamonn Dougan.

Now Belén has taken a further step becoming herself a choral conductor with the creation of the Professional Chamber Female choir: Alma Mater Ensemble

This choir is a new energetic group of female young singers who embrace styles that go from Renaissance to XXth century pieces. They are classicaly trained voices who explore also  gospel and barber shop repertoire with a new and fresh approach.

It is the perfect choir for corporative events, weddings and festivals as it can convert itself into smaller groups to perform duos or trios and interpret extracts from operas/operettas and musicals or stay as it is to perform larger choral pieces for all sorts of occasions.
